Betsy DeVos, Trump's pick for Secretary of Education, came under fire from democrats who were calling the member of the Republican Party unfit for the job during the confirmation hearing Tuesday evening.
While DeVos has been a long-term advocate for school choice and voucher programs (tax-payer funded vouchers for private and religious schools), she seems to have decided not to take a position on a few important issues for Democrats, such as whether guns should belong in schools (Editor's note: How can this even be a question?), or even if they should commit to the agressive approach towards handling sexual assault on campuses as put in place by Obama's administration.
During the confirmation she was also unsure about issues of special-education, or whether all schools should be receiving taxpayer funding
Before being nominated for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos has not held a public office, neither has no experience in public schools.
